I was watching an old issue of Reel Magic (which is awesome, you should subscribe) and I saw an advertisement for Street Magic Magazine. I have never been a fan of the Magazine because it was light on content and pretty much served only to be a catalog for Black's Magic, even though some of the items never were produce like the Hoodie. The magazine hasn't been published in a long time but I felt this commercial had a cocky message.

Jake Kasdan will make magic for New Line, signing on to direct "Burt Dickenson: The Most Powerful Magician on Planet Earth." Benderspink's Chris Bender and JC Spink are producing along with Tyler Mitchell.
The story centers on a Burt Dickenson, one half of successful two-man team who accidentally kills is partner and loses his inner magic. He has to find a way to rekindle it to fight his rival, a magician named Xander Storm.
The projects aims to showcase the "old school/David Copperfield vs. new school/Criss Angel" rivalry in a tone that harkens back to such movies as "Austin Powers" or "Zoolander."

'Magician' Gets 10-Year Jail-Term

FRANCISTOWN: A man who claimed that he was performing magic has been jailed for 10 and a half years after being found guilty of arson, malicious damage to property and unlawful wounding. For arson, Chief Magistrate Lorraine Makati-Lesang jailed 31-year-old Koketso Keeme to a five-year prison term, with 18 months suspended.
For malicious damage to property, he will serve two years with six months suspended. Keeme will be in for three and a half years with six months suspended for the crime of unlawful wounding.
The magistrate said the sentences for arson and malicious damage will run concurrently but that of unlawful wounding will be served separately. She said Keeme was crazy to burn the complainant's house and the fire spread to two other houses.
The court heard that the convict proceeded to the complainant sister's house where he used an axe to damage the door. He then stabbed the complainant with a knife. The complainant was hospitalised for nine days after the stabbing and was off-duty for three weeks.
The magistrate said that the use of sharp instruments that included an axe and a knife made the offence serious. Makati-Lesang told the convict that he was disrespectful to the people who are supposed to be his in-laws.
When passing sentence the magistrate said she bore in mind that the accused pleaded guilty and was a first offender. She said he can still be productive in society.

VegasDeluxe confirms our previous rumor thatDavid Copperfield will be on stage at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards this evening:
I can confirm now that illusionist and MGM headliner David Copperfield will make his first appearance on the show in a magic sequence with Taylor Swift. The noon rehearsals today are cloaked in secrecy, and only top-line producers, Taylor, her band and the camera crew will be allowed. It’s closed and off limits to all else!
Copperfield had his top secret rehearsals yesterday and, apparently Taylor will take part in a magic segment with David before she sings “You’re Not Sorry.”
The awards will broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 5,

Rumors have been flying that David Copperfield will be appearing on the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which will broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night. While we've confirmed that David will be there, no word yet on exactly what he will be doing. Tune in.

Before Miss USA 2009 is crowned at the Planet Hollywood Performing Arts Center in Las Vegas, the contestants will take a trip down the Strip to see the Lance Burton show. Following the performance, Lance will saw Miss USA 2008 in half. The trick will be aired during the April 19th broadcast of the Miss USA Pageant on NBC.

It's Friday and that means weekend and magic
I worked on some Steve Dobbson effects today and I am going to try and see what kind of reactions I get from the bar crowd tomorrow. It will help me gauge the trick and see if it belongs in my newest routine.
Tomorrow I will be getting a new prop and I am excited to see how it works. It might be cheasy but I saw a demo that might be the effect I am trying to achieve. I don't know if it's the same because the manufacturer has not put out any demo. See the video below.
I had to buy the item from another magic store but I do normally shop at http://www.madhattermagicshop.com/magicshop/ because they have better prices normally. The one problem is shipping is often a guess. Although once I did get free stuff when they delayed my shipment.
Speaking of delayed shipment, I am still waiting for the new issue of Reel Magic Magazine. They put the teaser on the website before they ship the video and it's probably to gauge interest before they go to DVD pressing.

The Magic Castle has burned down
April Fools suckers. Today I added a blog to my magic site because the other day one of my friends was reading my other blog and wondered what an ITR was. Well needless to say, I didn't want to give him the impression I didn't have special powers.
Today is April 1st and I am doing my thing aty home right now. I re-watched Daniel Garcia's Project. I think I am going to start working on Personal Safe. I have been working on more and more new coin stuff. I have dropped Nacho Mama's Triumph for a while. I might do Funner Color Stunner instead.
I did order a bunch of stuff the other day because the Strolling Magic Smackdown is around the corner. Last night I sat in the bar with a stop watch and started timing my effects to see what I could fit into a five minutes of table time. Tonight I might do some effects with some friends. I have a couple effects I have not timed yet.
Tomorrow I am thinking about going to the Magic Castle. I did facebook message Chris Masterson because he took a picture of me at the Castle with his girlfriend and it turned out to be a good picture.
